Joe Gibbs
NASCAR team owner on accountability
Accountability – Being responsible for your actions
Joe Gibbs is a NASCAR team owner and the former head coach of the NFL’s Washington Redskins. Gibbs has won championships in both sports and when asked about being a role model to others he said, “You hear guys saying, ‘I don’t want to be a role model’ but they are a role model. You are having an influence on people. Now, the question is what kind of influence? A sports figure takes on the added responsibility of millions of people looking at them and for them to stand there and say they don’t want to be a role model, well, they are. It doesn’t matter what you want.”
“The price of greatness is responsibility.”
Winston Churchill
