Jim Tressel
Buckeyes Head Coach on Leadership
Leadership – Motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal.
Born in Mentor, OH. Jim Tressel has an impressive college coaching record winning championships in both Division 1-AA and Division 1-A. He is a leader to young men, some just leaving home for the first time and is open about his Faith, but says it is more important to be an example rather than talking about it. “Any ability to witness first starts with your actions, so I don’t think you start telling anyone anything, rather you let them observe what you are doing.” Tressel says the Buckeyes openly recruit new players by telling them and their families that they will have a spiritual journey at OSU.
“If it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him give diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.”
1 Corinthians 15:57 NIV
When in a position of leadership take into consideration the success of everyone involved and allow God to take into consideration your success.
