Harmon Killibrew
Baseball Hall of Famer on Self-Control
Self Control – Choosing to do what you should do, not what you want to do.
Harmon Killibrew is considered one of baseball’s greatest players. A 22-year major league career, he was second only to Babe Ruth in American League home runs and retired as the career leader in home runs by a right-handed batter (the record has since been broken). He is now a coach for the Minnesota Twins teaching young kids the game and giving them advice that his father gave him. “Don’t get upset when you fail and don’t get too high when you do well. A baseball season is 162 games and if you took it in small segments you would never do well. Look at the big picture and trust in what God has planned for you.”
“Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour”
1 Peter 5:8 NIV
