Description:

Baseball manager on Focus

Focus:

Focus - The skilled ability of blocking out any distractions that may impede one's performance.

Print Body:

Eric Wedge is the former manager of the Cleveland Indians. He says, "The game is unbelievably fast at the major league level. "The biggest challaenge for players is to overcome the speed in which the game is played." Players need to develop the ability of slowing the action down in their minds to play under control during pressured situations. See only the glove, not the batter, umpire or even the sounds of the spectators. A pitcher must throw only to the glove and repeat it for the next 100 pitches while blocking out everything else in order to last. It requires concentration and focus.

Verse:

Tip Of The Day -- When pitching, pull the brim of your cap down so that only the top edge of the strike zone can be seen. This will help you to focus prior to pitching the ball.

Action Point:

Make concentration and focus part of your game. Take time to focus by visualizing your deisred outcome prior to each upcoming action or play.
