Dave Dravecky
Former pitcher on Peace
Peace – Demonstrating calmness even though circumstances would dictate otherwise.
Former Major League pitcher Dave Dravecky retired from baseball after a bout with cancer that ultimately led to the amputation of his arm and shoulder. Today, Dave leads a Ministry, Endurance, that serves suffering people by offering them resources and encouragement. He says that while playing baseball and even today the world around him gets hectic and it is then that he has to find some quiet time, “Often times I get caught up in the rat race of life and find myself calling out to God to help me instead of really pulling away and being quiet and listening to what God is really telling me.”
“(Jesus said) I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But that heart! I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33, NIV
Think of the last time you experienced turmoil in your life. How did you respond? Ask God to make you a peace-filled person when circumstances go against you.
